Presented by the Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center, COLAB showcases works on loan from major collections of African American art. Visual Art Curator Hilary Pierce has selected a diverse range of styles, subjects, and mediums, creating a digital catalog to guide collaboration with musicians and producers across various genres.
Led by Music Curator Sean Jones, professional musicians will review the catalog, select tracks from any genre that resonate with specific artworks, and contribute brief written reflections on their pairings. These insights will be incorporated into the exhibition content.
Visitors can scan QR codes linking artworks to curated playlists, offering a unique soundtrack experience. Narrated descriptions of the art will be available for visually impaired guests, and profiles of all collaborators will be featured. Guests are encouraged to bring Bluetooth listening devices.
COLAB invites audiences into a dynamic, interdisciplinary experience—interpreting visual art through the universal language of music.
